What is the Best Way to Restore Flood Damaged Property in Olean?

Commercial Flood Damage Restoration For Olean Businesses
With its location on I-86, Olean is a great layover spot for tourism and transportation. Area businesses support families on extended vacations to the nearby Allegany Forest and Lake Erie or truck drivers on an overnight stop.
While the swelling lake doesn’t reach this far, extreme thunderstorms can still cause commercial flood damage in Olean motels. To repair or replace damaged property, SERVPRO response teams train to quickly remove water, dispose of non-restorable items, dry the structure, and restore property not severely damaged.
Teams start by spraying the floodwater and nearby surfaces with an anti-bacterial agent to neutralize any contaminants. Then, they use pumps or smaller extraction devices to remove the water. Since the water contains solid particulates, WRTs (Water Damage Restoration Technicians) send the water directly into the nearest sewer access point.
Water softens the glue as it soaks the carpets in the rooms and office areas. While this is a problem to solve if the water was clean, contaminated water means that SERVPRO cannot guarantee the safety of the carpet. Here, the softened glue makes it easier and faster to remove the carpets for disposal. After finishing with the carpets, the WRTs scrape the glue off the bare floors and clean them again with an anti-bacterial detergent.
Simultaneously, other technicians remove all furniture from the flooded rooms and raise it off the ground. They then clean and examine the furniture for damage, either on-site or at our facility. If wood items have a finish or veneer, WRTs set up a combination of air movers and fans to carefully dry and harden them again. If needed, team members also set up a dehumidifier to draw moisture out of the items to speed up the process.
With the furniture out, other team members examine the drywall panels. If they have absorbed enough water to being crumbling, then the team remove and dispose of them immediately. For panels that only absorbed a small amount of water, WRTs use more air movers and fans to dry them in place carefully.
